Melaka, 29th May 2005 – Last Sunday, a New Era Games Club member outlet became a fierce battleground for the Dawn of War Melaka State Preliminary tournament. Goodview Internet Café, located in Batu Berendam Melaka was chosen for this battlefield. A total of 8 teams of two players gathered that early Sunday morning, after many nights of practice to finally to see who will the rule the galaxy... or Melaka.

Local teams came from all over Melaka, bearing ‘leet’ names such the Bukit Pasir Chaos Boyz and Bukit Pasir War Forces, but the rest came with rather ‘noob’ names like Goodview X1, Goodview X2, Honey and even Enet from Kuala Lumpur.

The tournament started at 10am, with a quick draw for all 8 teams before unleashing their wrath onto the other. Most teams started off cautiously as they had little challenge opportunities to play with, securing strategic locations located within the vicinity of their base and expanded later on when they all had a larger force. Some interesting strategies were seen, some employed rush-like tactics to knock off their opponents early in the game!

The 8 teams fought off in a best of 3 matches’ single elimination style, giving ample opportunities to learn and understand their opponents. With the 8 team structure, it narrowed down to the final four: Enet, Honey, Goodview 1 and the Bukit Pasir Chaos Boyz.

After a long gruesome and tiring battle, Bukit Pasir Chaos Boyz's mass strategies and valiant efforts were not enough to defeat the enemy, giving way Goodview 1 a chance vie to the championships with Enet, who took caré of Honey with their quick rush strategies.

For the 2 nd runner up battle between Honey and Bukit Pasir Chaos Boyz, it was clear that names don’t threaten their opponents with Honey securing 2nd runner up over the BPCB. Honey quickly defeated the BPCB with the same strategy they employed in past matches.

At 4pm, the final battle began. With another round of best of 3 matches, Enet narrowly lost their games but thanks to Goodview 1's inexperience they were able to pull through and push them to 1st runner up position.

The champions, Enet will represent Melaka and the Southern region in the Dawn of War Official National Tournament to be held in Low Yat Plaza concourse, this June 10th to 12th.They will be competing from the semi finals along with state champions from Sabah and Penang against the top 4 teams from the KL preliminaries on Sunday the 12th.
